Come on, $55.00 to change a guild name.
by Steady on Jul.09, 2010, under General Gaming Discussion
Ok, first they were going to use my real name in the World of Warcraft forums. Then Labron goes to Miami. However, this is not the injustice of the day. There is a new item on the market place on Everquest II. A Guild rename potion. Yes folks, for the low price of $55.00, a Jeanie with pop out of a bottle and rename your guild.
I am sorry this is just too much. I am not against real world money stores in any games. I understand that it is a fact of life for gamers anymore. Every game has them, but to charge $55.00 to change a guild name is just too much. Lord of the Rings only charges $12.95 to change a kinship name, and I thought that was too high. I have a few guilds that I would like to rename, but really not for $55.00, they will still just have to be named “Lords of the Underpants”. I have to make a stand, and draw a line in the sand somewhere.
I know what you are saying; you do not have to buy it if you do not want. You are right, I won’t.
Warhammer Online- The Sappers
by Steady on Nov.18, 2009, under Warhammer online
My gaming community, Combat Engineers, has had some success in starting leveling groups. Basically we meet one night a week, start at level 1, and as a team, level up. We have had a group in City of Heroes, Mission Architect Rangers, run AE missions together. That group is currently up to level 42. We also have the Stepping Stones, a World of Warcraft group that is now in the mid 40’s. I have found that it is really a good way to play, and level characters. It is nice to know that you will always have a team, even if it is only for a few hours, one night a week.
So we are going to start a group in Warhammer Online, The Sappers. Our first meeting will be Tuesday, 11/24/09, at 7:30 CST. We will meet every Tuesday, the starting time might vary a bit, the first two weeks of each month I have Cub Scouts, and the start time might be pushed back to 8:15 CST. We will be playing on the Iron Rock server, faction will be the Order.
We are seeking mature players (over 18), we also use vent (profanity free). We are a pretty good group of gamers. We like to have fun, so if you are looking for a hard core group of serious players that just has to win every encounter, you are most likely in the wrong place. We will run PVE quests, public quests, PVP scenarios, and some Realm vs Realm. Warhammer Online is really a good game to use this leveling group concept in. It really is a team oriented game.
So if you have any interest in joining, all I ask is that you let us know. This forum post has more details. Either post there, or drop me a comment here, so we can plan ahead a bit on what class everyone will play. We will try to build a well balanced team.
Steady’s Funnies 9/29/09

1. That Sarah Palin has penned a memoir, the title is “Going Rogue” I wonder if that is a good, or bad thing for the marketing department at City of Heroes. Please, no political comments, I just thought it was funny, nothing else.
2. If you know me very well, you know one of my pet peeves is the things that some guilds make people do to join their guilds. I hate it, this comic at noobz-online.com, is just too funny.
Champions Online launches, July 14th
by Steady on Apr.28, 2009, under Champions Online
So the buzz today is that Champions Online is going to be live on July 14th. Hmm, I think that the new Mission Architect, that City of Heroes has put out, is putting pressure on them to get this game out. I am on the fence with this game.
First, I do not trust Cryptic, I try to stay positive in this blog, but City of Heroes is a better game since Cryptic sold it. Before Cryptic left, the real numbers behind a power, were a mystery. Powers were described with terms like high, medium, and moderate. You never really knew exactly what a power did. They did not care about the quality of life of the players in the game. Something that Paragon Studios, has corrected in a big way.
Also, I have already had a bad experience with Cryptic, and its lack of respect for its player base. Someone in one of my clans, and myself put in a guild application. Someone from Cryptic asked for e-mail addresses, from our members, so we rounded up quite a few e-mails and turned them in. We have not heard a word, despite being promised that we would be one of the first guilds contacted, and allowed in the Closed Beta testing. Now I am not so silly as to thing we are such a large group that we should be included in any MMO that is looking for players. However, don’t tell us we are in, ask for e-mail addresses, and then ignore us.
My dilemma is that I was a die hard pen and paper player of Champions, and it has always been one of my favorite games. So it will be very hard for me not to play this game.
So I will most likely play Champions Online ( I am a MMO junkie, I have to try any new game), because I really like the game system. I will just be unhappy with the game itself, and a disgruntled player, which is what most players of a Cryptic game are. I also really think that this game is being rushed, and is going to have a rocky start. So we will see, maybe it will be a good game to play, but my initial thought is proceed with caution.
FPS News, Combat Arms, and Crossfire
by Steady on Apr.15, 2009, under General Gaming Discussion
Xfire is running a contest with Combat Arms, from April 13th to April 22nd. Play 25+ hours, and you will have a chance to win a Dell XPS 630 gaming PC. Have to have xfire running as well. Join my xfire clan, Moonbase/Combat Engineers if you like. Combat Arms is not my favorite FPS, but for a chance to win a $1,000.00 gaming computer, it can be for a week or so. So if you run across Steadyc in Combat Arms, go easy on him, I am old, my reflexes are not what they use to be.
Details on the Xfire-Combat Arms Contest
Cross fire is going to put out a big patch on April 16th, and offer +50 % Xp until the 20th. Most likely will mean lots of new weapons and maps. Lets hope they add Capture the flag, and get rid of a few of the bad maps. Join my cross fire clan, Engineers, we have been slacking lately, but the new patch ,should bring us back.
Cross Fire Clan, Engineers
by Steady on Mar.30, 2009, under General Gaming Discussion
I have recently started playing Cross Fire. It is a great, free, FPS shooter. If you ask me, it is the best free FPS out there. It has a lot of advantages over the competition
1. It really is free; you do not have to buy any thing extra to be successful in the game. You do earn points for items, but just cost you time, not money.
2. Once you earn a weapon, it is yours forever, not 1, 7, or 30 days. You will have to pay to repair it after each battle, but it is yours forever. So you really can have a pretty good arsenal of weapons to use.
3. It is hacker free for the most part. I really do not recall seeing any hacker in here, unlike some other free first person shooters.
4. It seems to be pretty well balanced. In some others the hand grenades and some of the other weapons seemed to be overpowering. The grenades and weapons in Cross fire seem to be more balanced. You are not always dying from grenades like in some of the other games.
So you can download the client.
We have started a Clan, Engineers, and despite my terrible kill to death ratio, they let me join. So if you to join. put in a application from the link below. You will have to reach the rank of Corporal in order to join. Oh yeah, if you see Soulrocker in-game, throw a flash-bang grenade his way, he loves those things.
Combat Enigneers World of Warcraft, Elune Server, Alliance
by Steady on Mar.27, 2009, under World of Warcraft
Will I finally did it. After watching the 15 year olds in my current guild fight like cats and dogs over silly stuff. Also in my short stay on World of Warcraft, this is at least the fifth or sixth guild I have seen this in, I decided it was time to set out on my own. So I spent a few hours collecting signatures for Combat Engineers, and started a guild. Really the pettiness I have seen in the guilds in this game, really makes me wonder how any guilds are productive.
So a little about Combat Engineers WOW.
1. I am not going to recruit people in-game. If you are already in one of the groups here, then you are welcome.
2. I have one tab, and a bank, will allow everyone access to the storage, pretty much we are going to know each other, and as long as we are a small group, we can help each other out.
3. I have no clue what I am doing in this game. I do read eveything I can on instances, raids and PVP. Right now the highest toon I have is mid 50′s.
4. I would like to try some of the 5 men and 10 men, raids/instances out, but I am not going to PUG it. So if we get enough together, and want to give it a try, I will be happy to try one.
5. I like PVP in this game, so I do visit the battlegrounds pretty often.
6. Like to get a low-key, no pressure arena team going, but again, I am more intrested in having fun, then I am winning.
7. This is a silly game, not life or death, I like to have success in all the games I play, but not at the expense of having fun.
So if you have an alliance toon on Elune, drop in and chat with me. I am going to be very selective with this guild. If you are in one of my other groups, then I will let you in. This group is going to be DRAMA FREE, and we really have no clue what we are doing. We will however learn.
